Daily close and perpetual volume across tracked exchanges
Founded by Turing Award winner Silvio Micali, Algorand is a layer 1 blockchain built on a pure proof-of-stake design where transactions settle with near-instant finality. ALGO pays network fees and is used to take part in consensus. Traders use ALGO perps to express views on one of the older layer 1 networks with leverage, hedge long-term holdings, or short the token in weak altcoin markets.
Broad altcoin sentiment, partnership announcements and updates from the Algorand Foundation tend to move ALGO. Binance carries the most volume and Bybit follows, while Hyperliquid and MEXC hold open interest that is large relative to their trading. A funding rate that climbs while price stalls often signals that leveraged longs are crowding in. The long/short ratio adds a second view of how positioning is leaning.

Algorand is a layer 1 blockchain that uses pure proof of stake, where ALGO holders can take part in consensus. Blocks reach finality almost immediately, so transactions do not need extra confirmations. The network focuses on payments, tokenisation and other financial applications.

ALGO has a fixed maximum supply of 10 billion tokens. Circulating supply has grown over time as tokens were released from foundation and ecosystem allocations. Because the cap is fixed, supply changes come from distribution of existing tokens.
Algorand was founded by Silvio Micali, an MIT professor who won the Turing Award for his work in cryptography. His research on verifiable random functions and zero-knowledge proofs shaped Algorand's consensus design, which picks block proposers at random.

Broad altcoin sentiment moves ALGO perps more than anything else, with partnership news and Algorand Foundation updates adding short bursts of volatility. Because volume is spread across several venues, checking open interest alongside price shows whether a move is backed by new leverage.
ALGO perpetual futures are derivatives contracts that track the price of ALGO and never expire. Instead of settling on a date, they use a funding rate to stay close to the spot price. You can go long or short with leverage without holding any ALGO.
Funding is a payment between longs and shorts. When ALGO perps trade above the index price, funding is positive and longs pay shorts. When they trade below it, shorts pay longs. Most exchanges settle every 8 hours and some, including Hyperliquid, settle every hour.

Coinperps does not give trading advice. Funding, open interest, the long/short ratio and liquidations show how other traders are positioned, but crowded positioning can last longer than expected. Size positions so a liquidation would not hurt you.
