Usual is a DeFi protocol that issues USD0, a stablecoin backed by tokenised US Treasury bills and similar real-world assets. USUAL is the governance and rewards token, designed to give holders a share of the value the protocol generates. Traders use USUAL perps for leveraged exposure to the RWA stablecoin theme, to short the token, or to hedge USUAL earned through the protocol's rewards.
The token's price is tied to protocol growth, emissions and changes to its reward rules. In January 2025 a change to how USD0++ could be redeemed caused a brief depeg and a sharp USUAL sell-off, showing how sensitive the market is to tokenomics updates. Binance leads perp volume, with BingX and WhiteBIT next. Books are thin, so liquidations can stretch moves in either direction.

Usual is a stablecoin protocol that issues USD0, backed by real-world assets such as short-term US Treasury bills held through tokenised funds. Its USUAL token rewards users and governs the protocol. The idea is to share revenue from those reserves with the community instead of keeping it with a single issuer.

USD0++ is a staked, locked version of USD0 that earns yield and USUAL rewards in exchange for locking funds for a fixed term. In early 2025 a change to its redemption terms caused it to trade below its peg for a period, which hit confidence in the wider Usual ecosystem.
New USUAL is distributed as rewards to users who hold or stake protocol products, which adds supply over time. If demand for the token does not keep pace with emissions, selling pressure can build. Changes to emission rules or rewards are among the main catalysts for USUAL perps.

No. USD0 is the protocol's stablecoin and aims to stay at one dollar. USUAL is a separate governance and rewards token whose price floats freely and can be very volatile, which is why it trades on perps markets.
USUAL perpetual futures are derivatives contracts that track the price of USUAL and never expire. Instead of settling on a date, they use a funding rate to stay close to the spot price. You can go long or short with leverage without holding any USUAL.
Funding is a payment between longs and shorts. When USUAL perps trade above the index price, funding is positive and longs pay shorts. When they trade below it, shorts pay longs. Most exchanges settle every 8 hours and some, including Hyperliquid, settle every hour.

Coinperps does not give trading advice. Funding, open interest, the long/short ratio and liquidations show how other traders are positioned, but crowded positioning can last longer than expected. Size positions so a liquidation would not hurt you.
