Injective is a layer 1 blockchain built for finance, with an on-chain order book module that apps use to run spot, perps and other derivatives markets. INJ pays fees, secures the chain through staking and votes in governance. Traders use INJ perps to trade the token with leverage, to short it when DeFi sentiment weakens, or to hedge staked INJ without waiting out the unbonding period.
Part of the fees generated by apps on Injective goes into regular burn auctions that remove INJ from supply, so ecosystem activity and burn size are worth watching alongside price. The chain is built with the Cosmos SDK, and INJ often trades with other Cosmos and DeFi assets. Binance leads perp volume, followed by Bybit, MEXC and OKX, and Hyperliquid also lists an INJ/USD market for traders who prefer an on-chain venue.

Injective is a proof-of-stake layer 1 blockchain designed for financial apps such as exchanges, prediction markets and tokenised asset platforms. It offers shared order book infrastructure that apps can plug into. INJ is the native token used for fees, staking and governance.

A share of fees from apps on Injective is collected into a basket of assets that is auctioned on a regular schedule. Bidders pay in INJ, and the winning INJ bid is burned, which reduces supply. Larger ecosystem revenue means larger auctions and more INJ removed.
Staking locks INJ with validators to earn rewards, and unbonding takes several weeks, so staked holders cannot sell quickly. Some hedge with short perps instead, which can push funding negative even when spot demand is steady. A high staking ratio also leaves fewer liquid tokens on exchanges.

INJ shares investors and narratives with DeFi tokens because its main use is financial applications. It also moves with Cosmos assets because the chain is built with the Cosmos SDK and connects through IBC. Sector-wide moves in either group often show up in INJ funding and open interest.
INJ perpetual futures are derivatives contracts that track the price of INJ and never expire. Instead of settling on a date, they use a funding rate to stay close to the spot price. You can go long or short with leverage without holding any INJ.
Funding is a payment between longs and shorts. When INJ perps trade above the index price, funding is positive and longs pay shorts. When they trade below it, shorts pay longs. Most exchanges settle every 8 hours and some, including Hyperliquid, settle every hour.

Coinperps does not give trading advice. Funding, open interest, the long/short ratio and liquidations show how other traders are positioned, but crowded positioning can last longer than expected. Size positions so a liquidation would not hurt you.
