Daily close and perpetual volume across tracked exchanges
First designed for machine payments and data in the Internet of Things, IOTA is a distributed ledger from the IOTA Foundation built originally around a structure called the Tangle. It has since been rebuilt as a smart contract platform. IOTA perps let traders take leveraged positions on this long-standing altcoin, short it during weak markets, or hedge staked tokens without unstaking them.
Network upgrades and partnership news from the IOTA Foundation tend to drive the sharpest moves, while broad altcoin sentiment sets the backdrop. Perp liquidity is modest and concentrated, with Binance carrying the largest share and BingX and Bybit behind it. Thin order books outside the top venues mean a cluster of liquidations can move price quickly. Read funding together with open interest before trusting a breakout.

IOTA is a distributed ledger developed by the IOTA Foundation, a non-profit based in Germany. It was originally designed for feeless data and value transfer between connected devices. The network has since added smart contract support, and IOTA is its native token for transactions and staking.

The Tangle was IOTA's original ledger structure, a directed acyclic graph in which each new transaction approved earlier ones. It was meant to let devices send tiny payments without fees or blocks. Later upgrades moved IOTA towards a more conventional validator-based design.
IOTA was created to support data and payments between machines, such as sensors and connected devices, and its name is a play on that goal. The project has run industry and trade data pilots over the years. That machine economy story still shapes how traders view the token.

Upgrade milestones, exchange listings and partnership announcements tend to bring bursts of volume, while wider altcoin sentiment drives the rest. Perp liquidity is thinner than for large caps, so funding can swing sharply on modest buying or selling. Liquidations often deepen moves in either direction.
IOTA perpetual futures are derivatives contracts that track the price of IOTA and never expire. Instead of settling on a date, they use a funding rate to stay close to the spot price. You can go long or short with leverage without holding any IOTA.
Funding is a payment between longs and shorts. When IOTA perps trade above the index price, funding is positive and longs pay shorts. When they trade below it, shorts pay longs. Most exchanges settle every 8 hours and some, including Hyperliquid, settle every hour.

Coinperps does not give trading advice. Funding, open interest, the long/short ratio and liquidations show how other traders are positioned, but crowded positioning can last longer than expected. Size positions so a liquidation would not hurt you.
