Key takeaways

  • Binance is the best crypto exchange in Bangladesh: it runs the deepest taka P2P market, with 1,675 live adverts paying by bKash, Nagad, Rocket and bank transfer, more than ten times any rival in our snapshot.
  • No exchange is licensed in Bangladesh: Bangladesh Bank's 2022 circular says buying crypto from inside the country is not permitted and bars banks and mobile wallets from facilitating it.
  • USDT costs more than the official dollar: a Tk 25,000 P2P order cost Tk 127.45 to Tk 129.10 per USDT, a premium of 3.1% to 4.4% over Bangladesh Bank's rate of Tk 123.65.
  • Crypto.com, OKX and HTX are poor fits: Crypto.com blocks Bangladesh, OKX's access is unclear and HTX bars Bangladeshi users from derivatives.

No crypto exchange is licensed in Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Bank says buying crypto from inside the country is not permitted. Even so, Bangladeshis trade on international exchanges in a legal grey zone, buying USDT from peer-to-peer sellers they pay by bKash, Nagad or Rocket.

Binance, Bybit, Bitget, KuCoin, Gate and MEXC all leave Bangladesh off their restricted-country lists and run taka (BDT) peer-to-peer (P2P) markets. Crypto.com blocks Bangladesh outright, and HTX and Kraken bar Bangladeshi users from derivatives.

Bangladesh ranked 13th of 151 countries in Chainalysis's 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index, its first time in the top 20. It placed 56th in the reworked 2026 index, which measures adoption differently.

We checked each exchange's terms for Bangladesh, pulled 2,087 live BDT P2P adverts from seven exchanges early on 20 October 2026 and compared spot fees, taka payment options and proof of reserves against our exchange rankings.

This guide to the best crypto exchanges in Bangladesh puts spot trading first and treats perpetual futures as a bonus. It is not legal or tax advice.

The 22 July 2026 version of Gate's user agreement lists India and Pakistan as restricted locations but not Bangladesh. Gate added Vietnam and Russia to that list during 2026, so access can change with little notice.

Its BDT P2P book showed 44 adverts. Spot fees are 0.1% for makers and takers, falling to 0.09% with GT.

Gate's proof of reserves for 13 September 2026 shows 120.31% Bitcoin and 114.25% USDT backing. Perpetual futures go up to 200x on Bitcoin. Read our Gate restricted countries guide or use the Gate referral code.

How We Ranked These Exchanges

We ranked exchanges first on whether they accept Bangladeshi residents, then on how easily you can move taka in and out, local costs, Bangla support and platform strength, using our ranking methodology.

No crypto exchange holds a Bangladeshi licence, so access depended on each platform's own terms. Crypto.com failed that test, and so did OKX, whose availability we could not confirm.

Taka funding came from a snapshot of BDT P2P adverts taken between 01:55 and 02:10 Dhaka time on 20 October 2026. We measured prices for a Tk 25,000 order, about $200, against the Bangladesh Bank weighted average rate of Tk 123.65 per US dollar for 19 October.

Our exchange rankings, which score liquidity, features, fees and regulation, set the platform strength score. Bybit leads them, but Binance's taka market is more than ten times deeper, so Binance takes first place. Perpetual futures counted only as a tiebreaker.

Scatter chart of Coinperps global score against live BDT P2P adverts for each exchange

Crypto is not legal tender in Bangladesh, no exchange is licensed, and Bangladesh Bank treats buying crypto from inside the country as a breach of foreign exchange law.

Bangladesh Bank's Crypto Circular

FE Circular No. 24 of 15 September 2022 states that transactions in, from or to Bangladesh to obtain virtual assets are not permitted. It bars banks, financial institutions and mobile financial services such as bKash and Nagad from facilitating them.

The circular treats a breach as an offence under section 23(1) of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 1947, which carries up to seven years in prison, a fine or both. In October 2022 the central bank told banks to tighten monitoring after finding foreign exchanges and P2P traders using customer accounts.

A Decade of Warnings

Bangladesh Bank first warned against Bitcoin in September 2014 and issued a second cautionary notice in December 2017. Since November 2019 banks have had to block international card payments for crypto, forex trading and gambling.

In 2021 the bank told the CID in a letter that owning or trading crypto does not appear to be a crime in itself. A transaction can still breach foreign exchange, money laundering or anti-terrorism law.

The Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering found in its 2020 follow-up report that Bangladesh has no explicit statutory ban on virtual assets and that the central bank's warnings are not directly enforceable.

What Enforcement Targets

Police action has focused on crypto used for gambling, illegal money transfers (hundi) and fraud. The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit's 2024-25 annual report counts suspicious reports on gambling, scams and crypto rising from 50 in 2020 to 1,046 in 2024.

In November 2025 Bangladesh Bank ordered all 13 mobile money providers to stop online gambling transactions. Holding crypto carries personal risk as well. In 2024 detective police officers in Chattogram moved about Tk 3 crore out of a detained freelancer's Binance account, and six were suspended.

No Licence and No New Law Yet

The ICT Division's National Blockchain Policy 2026 leaves crypto exchanges and trading to Bangladesh Bank and refers to exchange guidelines only "if promulgated". The BNP government that took office in February 2026 has announced no crypto policy.

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) is finishing a national risk assessment of virtual assets, targeted for December 2026, ahead of an anti-money laundering evaluation in 2027.

Timeline of Bangladesh Bank's crypto warnings from 2014 to the 2022 FE Circular No. 24

Exchanges Bangladeshis Should Skip

Several well-known exchanges block Bangladesh or bar its users from part of their service, so check before you deposit.

  • Crypto.com: its app geo-restrictions, dated 12 May 2026, list Bangladesh, and its exchange blocks Bangladeshi users from spot and derivatives trading.
  • OKX: third-party lists, including our OKX restricted countries guide, place Bangladesh on its restricted list, and its BDT P2P book had only one advert selling USDT.
  • HTX: its user agreement prohibits Bangladeshi users from derivatives, its spot fees are 0.2% and its P2P market had no adverts selling USDT for taka.
  • Kraken: spot trading is open, but Kraken Derivatives is unavailable in Bangladesh and there is no taka deposit option.
  • Card on-ramps: MoonPay lists Bangladesh as an unsupported country, and Bangladeshi banks must block card payments for crypto.

Local "dollar buy and sell" websites that sell USDT for bKash are unlicensed, and only authorised dealers may deal in foreign currency under Bangladeshi law. You also lose the exchange escrow that protects a P2P trade if a seller disappears.

Matrix of what Binance, Bybit, OKX, HTX, Kraken, Crypto.com and others allow for Bangladeshi users

How to Buy USDT With Taka

The standard way to buy crypto in Bangladesh is paying for USDT on an exchange's P2P market with bKash, Nagad, Rocket or a bank transfer, then trading it for Bitcoin or other coins.

  1. Pick an exchange from the list above and verify your identity with your national ID card or passport.
  2. Open the BDT P2P market and choose an advert whose limits fit your order. The cheapest prices are often small teaser adverts.
  3. Pay from a bKash, Nagad, Rocket or bank account in your own name, then wait for the seller to release USDT from escrow.
  4. Swap USDT for Bitcoin or another coin with a limit order at 0.1% or less.
  5. Move long-term holdings to a wallet you control.

USDT on P2P costs more than the official dollar rate. For a Tk 25,000 order, prices ran from Tk 127.45 on KuCoin and Tk 128.05 on Binance to Tk 129.10 on Bitget, a premium of 3.1% to 4.4% over Bangladesh Bank's Tk 123.65.

That premium is wider than the Tk 1 to 2 gap between hundi and bank remittance rates that The Business Standard reported in late 2024. Bangladesh moved to a market-based exchange rate in May 2025, but the taka has stayed between about Tk 122 and Tk 124 since.

Bangladesh's mobile wallets handled an average of Tk 5,883 crore a day in 2025, and bKash appeared in 1,227 Binance adverts in our snapshot. Bangladesh Bank's 2022 circular covers these wallets, so a seller's account can be frozen if it is flagged for crypto or gambling payments.

How to buy USDT with taka on P2P, with prices against the Bangladesh Bank rate

Crypto Futures and Leverage in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has no rules for crypto derivatives, so residents who trade perpetual futures do so on offshore exchanges under the same foreign exchange risk as spot trading.

Binance, Bybit and Bitget offer up to 150x on Bitcoin, KuCoin 125x, Gate 200x and MEXC 500x. HTX and Kraken block Bangladeshi users from derivatives.

A 1% move against a 100x position wipes out the margin, and leverage multiplies the taka premium you already paid to buy USDT. Funding payments every few hours add to the cost of holding a position.

Our guides to perps versus spot trading, perpetual futures regulation and funding rates explain the mechanics. The Bitcoin liquidation heatmap shows where leveraged positions cluster.

Share of days Bitcoin moved enough to wipe out positions at 10x to 500x leverage

Crypto Taxes in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has no crypto-specific tax rules, so any gains fall under general income tax law.

The Income Tax Act 2023 does not mention crypto or virtual assets. It taxes capital gains and income from other sources, and defines a capital asset as property of any kind, which would cover crypto. The National Board of Revenue has issued no crypto guidance.

The individual tax return deadline is 30 November. Claims online of a flat 15% crypto tax in Bangladesh have no official source.

Declaring crypto gains can also reveal dealings that the 2022 circular says are not permitted. Speak to a tax adviser before filing, and keep records of every P2P trade and transfer.

How crypto gains fit the heads of income in Bangladesh's Income Tax Act 2023

Risks and Scams to Watch

The biggest danger for Bangladeshi crypto users is fraud, from Ponzi schemes paid in USDT to Telegram investment groups and P2P payment tricks.

Metaverse Foreign Exchange (MTFE), a Ponzi scheme that took USDT deposits, collapsed in August 2023 after drawing in hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshi investors. In March 2026 the CID recovered $3.6 million of its USDT through OKX, the country's first recovery of laundered crypto from abroad.

The CID made new arrests in early 2026 over Telegram groups that posed as foreign investment firms, posted fake profits and demanded deposits before any withdrawal. Bangladesh Bank itself suspended an official in July 2026 over alleged gambling and crypto dealings.

On P2P, never release USDT before money from an account in the buyer's own name has arrived, and never leave the exchange's chat. Funds that come from a scam victim can get your bKash or bank account frozen.

No Bangladeshi protection or deposit insurance covers offshore exchanges. Spreading funds across platforms and keeping long-term holdings in your own wallet limits the damage if one is hacked.

MTFE Ponzi losses against the $3.6 million recovered, BFIU suspicious reports and a P2P scam chain

Bottom Line

Binance is the best crypto exchange in Bangladesh, with more than ten times the taka P2P depth of any rival and payment by bKash, Nagad, Rocket and bank transfer. Bybit, with the top score in our global rankings, is the strongest alternative.

Bitget has the strongest Bitcoin reserves, KuCoin and MEXC have Bangla websites, and Gate suits traders who accept a thin taka market.

Buying crypto remains outside Bangladesh Bank's rules, so trade only through accounts in your own name, keep records and watch for any move toward licensing.
