Daily close and perpetual volume across tracked exchanges
Built by engineers who previously worked on Meta's Diem blockchain project, Aptos is a layer 1 network that uses the Move programming language and processes transactions in parallel. APT pays for gas and secures the chain through staking. Its perps are a liquid way to trade the newer generation of high-throughput chains, whether going long on ecosystem growth or shorting APT against SOL or SUI.
Scheduled token unlocks are a recurring driver, since new APT reaches the foundation, core contributors and early backers on a set timetable and traders often position ahead of each release. Ecosystem news, partnerships and rotation between layer 1 tokens move it too. Binance carries the largest share of perp volume, with Bybit, OKX and Bitget behind it. Rising open interest into an unlock alongside negative funding usually points to hedging or shorts.

Aptos is a proof-of-stake layer 1 blockchain built around the Move programming language, which grew out of Meta's Diem project. It runs transactions in parallel to raise throughput. APT is used for transaction fees, staking and governance.

Unlocks add new supply, and traders often short or trim longs ahead of them in case recipients sell. That can push funding negative and build open interest before the date. The price effect varies, and well-anticipated unlocks sometimes pass quietly once positioning has cleared.
Both chains came from teams that worked on Meta's Diem project, and both use versions of the Move language. They compete for developers and users among high-throughput layer 1s, so traders often compare them or run pair trades between APT and SUI perps.

APT tracks adoption of the Aptos network, including developer activity, stablecoin and DeFi deposits, and new partnerships. Supply from token unlocks and broad sentiment toward layer 1 tokens matter as well. Like most altcoins, it tends to move with BTC and ETH during market-wide swings.
APT perpetual futures are derivatives contracts that track the price of APT and never expire. Instead of settling on a date, they use a funding rate to stay close to the spot price. You can go long or short with leverage without holding any APT.
Funding is a payment between longs and shorts. When APT perps trade above the index price, funding is positive and longs pay shorts. When they trade below it, shorts pay longs. Most exchanges settle every 8 hours and some, including Hyperliquid, settle every hour.

Coinperps does not give trading advice. Funding, open interest, the long/short ratio and liquidations show how other traders are positioned, but crowded positioning can last longer than expected. Size positions so a liquidation would not hurt you.
