Daily close and perpetual volume across tracked exchanges
Brent is the global benchmark for crude oil, priced from North Sea grades and used to value a large share of internationally traded oil. BRENTOIL is a crypto-settled perpetual contract that tracks the Brent price. Traders do not take delivery of oil or hold an exchange futures contract. They use it to take leveraged long or short positions on crude with stablecoin margin, or to hedge energy exposure from a crypto account.
Almost all volume sits on tradeXYZ, a builder-deployed market on Hyperliquid, with small books on Kraken and HTX. OPEC+ output decisions, weekly US inventory data, supply risk in major producing regions and the US dollar are the main drivers. The perp trades 24/7 while ICE Brent futures pause at weekends, so prices can gap when futures reopen. Check funding rates for crowded positioning before big supply headlines.

Brent crude is a light, sweet oil benchmark based on grades produced in the North Sea. It serves as the reference price for much of the world's internationally traded oil, while WTI is the main US benchmark. Brent futures trade on ICE, and BRENTOIL perps follow that price.

No. BRENTOIL is a cash-settled perpetual contract margined in stablecoins. Profit and loss track the Brent price, but there is no barrel, no delivery and no expiry date to roll. Funding payments, rather than expiry, keep the perp aligned with its reference price.
The perp keeps trading when ICE futures are shut, mainly at weekends. Without a live futures price to anchor it, the perp can drift on news and then gap when the futures market reopens. Liquidations can cluster around that reopening if the weekend price moved far from the reference.

Supply decisions by OPEC+, weekly US inventory reports, geopolitical risk around major producers and shipping lanes, and demand signals from China and global growth data all move Brent. A stronger US dollar tends to weigh on oil because crude is priced in dollars.
BRENTOIL perpetual futures are derivatives contracts that track the price of Brent Crude Oil and never expire. They settle in crypto, usually USDT or USDC, so you get long or short price exposure with leverage without owning the underlying asset. A funding rate keeps the contract close to the reference price.
Funding is a payment between longs and shorts. When BRENTOIL perps trade above the reference price, funding is positive and longs pay shorts. When they trade below it, shorts pay longs. Most exchanges settle every 8 hours and some, including Hyperliquid, settle every hour.

Coinperps does not give trading advice. Funding, open interest, the long/short ratio and liquidations show how other traders are positioned, but crowded positioning can last longer than expected. Size positions so a liquidation would not hurt you.
