Daily close and perpetual volume across tracked exchanges
Hamster Kombat began as a tap-to-earn game inside Telegram, where players run a virtual crypto exchange as a hamster CEO and earn in-game coins. It attracted a huge player base, and HMSTR launched on The Open Network with an airdrop to those players. Perps give traders leveraged exposure to the Telegram gaming trend and a way to short a token held by millions of airdrop recipients.
Airdrop supply has weighed on HMSTR since launch, and new game seasons and further token distributions are the main catalysts. Price often tracks other Telegram ecosystem tokens such as TON and NOT. Binance carries the most perp volume, with BingX and Bybit behind, and Hyperliquid holds notable open interest. With small books, even modest leverage can trigger a cascade of liquidations.

Hamster Kombat is a Telegram mini app game in which players tap, upgrade and complete daily tasks to grow a fictional crypto exchange. It became one of the most played Telegram games, and in-game progress counted towards an airdrop of HMSTR tokens when the token launched on TON.

HMSTR is a token on The Open Network, or TON, the blockchain closely linked to Telegram. Holding it on chain requires a TON wallet, while perps on centralised exchanges and on Hyperliquid let traders take positions without one.
Tap-to-earn games reward players for simple repeated actions, such as tapping the screen, with in-game points that may later convert into tokens. They spread quickly through Telegram in 2024, and Hamster Kombat, Notcoin and similar games used them to build large audiences before launching tokens.

News about new game seasons, further airdrops and Telegram ecosystem events tends to drive HMSTR. Because many holders received tokens for free, selling can appear quickly after rallies, and thin perp books mean funding and liquidations can swing sharply on relatively small trades.
HMSTR perpetual futures are derivatives contracts that track the price of HMSTR and never expire. Instead of settling on a date, they use a funding rate to stay close to the spot price. You can go long or short with leverage without holding any HMSTR.
Funding is a payment between longs and shorts. When HMSTR perps trade above the index price, funding is positive and longs pay shorts. When they trade below it, shorts pay longs. Most exchanges settle every 8 hours and some, including Hyperliquid, settle every hour.

Coinperps does not give trading advice. Funding, open interest, the long/short ratio and liquidations show how other traders are positioned, but crowded positioning can last longer than expected. Size positions so a liquidation would not hurt you.
