Celestia is a modular blockchain built to do one job well, which is ordering transactions and making their data available for other chains. Rollups post data to Celestia and pay fees in TIA, while stakers secure the network in return for rewards. Perps let traders take a leveraged view on the modular blockchain thesis, hedge staked TIA without waiting out the unbonding period, or short a token with ongoing inflation.
Supply has been the big theme in TIA's history. Large unlocks for early backers and core contributors began a year after mainnet, and staking rewards add new tokens continuously. Rollup adoption, demand for blob space and competition from other data availability layers drive the longer view. Binance leads on volume, including a USDC-margined pair alongside the USDT one, while Bybit, MEXC and OKX carry much of the rest.

Celestia is a data availability network that lets rollups and other chains publish transaction data cheaply and prove it is available. It separates consensus and data from execution, an approach known as modular blockchain design. TIA pays for blob space, secures the network through staking and is used in governance.

Data availability sampling lets light nodes check that a block's data was published by downloading small random pieces instead of the whole block. If enough samples succeed, the node can be confident the full data exists. This lets Celestia raise block sizes while keeping verification cheap for ordinary users.
Stakers who want protection against falling prices can short TIA perps and keep their staking rewards running. Unstaking takes several weeks, which makes a perp hedge much faster to put on than selling. This hedging adds steady short interest, so funding can sit lower than in tokens without staking.

Unlocks move tokens from early investors and contributors into circulation, adding potential sell pressure. TIA has had large scheduled releases, and traders often lean short ahead of them. Watching open interest and funding in the run-up to a release shows how much leverage is positioned for it.
TIA perpetual futures are derivatives contracts that track the price of TIA and never expire. Instead of settling on a date, they use a funding rate to stay close to the spot price. You can go long or short with leverage without holding any TIA.
Funding is a payment between longs and shorts. When TIA perps trade above the index price, funding is positive and longs pay shorts. When they trade below it, shorts pay longs. Most exchanges settle every 8 hours and some, including Hyperliquid, settle every hour.

Coinperps does not give trading advice. Funding, open interest, the long/short ratio and liquidations show how other traders are positioned, but crowded positioning can last longer than expected. Size positions so a liquidation would not hurt you.
