Key takeaways
- Bybit is the best crypto exchange in Tajikistan: it runs the deepest somoni P2P market, with 332 live adverts and about 1.72 million USDT on offer, and it ranks first in our global exchange rankings.
- Tajikistan has no crypto law or exchange licence: the National Bank says crypto is unregulated and no exchange is registered, while the digital agency's director said users of foreign platforms act illegally, a remark we could not tie to any statute.
- Binance is the cheapest but only third: it sold USDT at 9.30 somoni for a 1,000 somoni order, yet a $6.3 billion hack on 29 October left withdrawals reopening in phases.
- Your bank decides little and your exchange decides a lot: 1,000 somoni bought 107.30 USDT on Bybit but only 94.34 on KuCoin, and the local exchanger Bitcom gave 104.72 after fees.

Tajikistan has no crypto law or exchange licence, so the best crypto exchange here is the one with safe access and deep somoni funding. Most Tajiks buy USDT through peer-to-peer (P2P) markets on international exchanges, paying from local bank accounts.
The National Bank of Tajikistan says crypto activity is not regulated, and the head of the state digital agency says no law bans it. The same official said people using foreign platforms act illegally. We found no statute behind that remark, but the risk is yours.
We read every exchange's restricted-country terms and pulled 611 live somoni (TJS) P2P adverts from seven exchanges late on 1 November 2026. Each price is measured against the National Bank's official rate of 9.2086, then weighed with fees, reserves and our exchange rankings.
This guide to the best crypto exchanges in Tajikistan puts spot trading first. Perpetual futures count as a small bonus, and nothing here is legal or tax advice.

Bybit is the best crypto exchange in Tajikistan. It runs the country's deepest somoni market by a wide margin and holds first place in our global exchange rankings.
Tajikistan is absent from Bybit's restricted countries list, last updated on 16 October 2026, though neighbouring Uzbekistan is on it. Bybit also publishes a TJS fee table for its P2P market, where takers pay nothing. Its fiat restriction list names Tajikistan only for SWIFT payments in Polish zloty.
Its somoni book held 332 adverts, split between 170 selling USDT and 162 buying it. Sellers had about 1.72 million USDT on offer, almost ten times the amount on Binance. Most accept Alif or Dushanbe City Bank. Eskhata, Spitamen, the International Bank of Tajikistan and Korti Milli show up often too. The best price for a 1,000 somoni order was 9.32, a 1.2% premium over the official rate.
You pay 0.1% a side on spot, with about 389 assets to choose from. North Korean hackers stole about $1.5 billion in Ether from Bybit in February 2025, and the exchange covered customer losses. Its proof of reserves for 27 October 2026 shows 102% Bitcoin and 112% USDT backing.
As a bonus, Bitcoin perpetual futures go up to 150x. Our Bybit restricted countries guide shows where it operates, and you can sign up through Bybit.
Pros
- The deepest somoni P2P market, with 332 adverts.
- Zero taker fees on TJS P2P trades.
- The top score in our global exchange rankings.
Cons
- No Tajik-language website.
- Bitcoin reserves margin of only 2%.
- A $1.5 billion hack in 2025, fully covered.

2. OKX

Reserves and bank coverage put OKX second. Its somoni market is smaller than Bybit's, but it is the only one of the top three with no recent hack and a double-digit Bitcoin reserves margin.
You will not find Tajikistan on the restricted locations list dated 8 July 2026, which does name Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. The terms of service, updated on 29 October, point to that list.
Of its 69 somoni adverts, 11 sold USDT and 58 bought it. That suits cashing out better than buying. Its best price for a 1,000 somoni order was 9.37, a 1.8% premium. Adverts name Alif, Dushanbe City Bank, Eskhata, Amonatbonk, Spitamen, Orienbank and Korti Milli, and Amonatbonk appeared more often here than anywhere else.
Only MEXC beats its spot fees, which start at 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker. OKX's October 2026 proof of reserves shows 110% Bitcoin and 105% USDT backing. In February 2025 its operator pleaded guilty in the United States to unlicensed money transmission and paid about $504 million.
Leverage stops at 100x on Bitcoin. Read our OKX restricted countries guide, compare it in our Bybit vs OKX guide, or open an account through OKX.
Pros
- Bitcoin reserves of 110%, with no recent hack.
- Low spot fees from 0.08%.
- Amonatbonk, Orienbank and Korti Milli on P2P.
Cons
- Only 11 somoni adverts selling USDT.
- A 2025 US guilty plea over money transmission.
- No Tajik-language website.

On raw somoni pricing Binance was the cheapest place to buy USDT, at 9.30 for a 1,000 somoni order. It ranks third because of the hack that hit it four days before this guide was written.
On 29 October 2026 hackers took about $6.3 billion from its hot wallets, the largest crypto theft on record. Withdrawals stopped, and Binance says it will bear the loss. By 1 November it had replaced about 95% of the affected assets from its own funds and reopened withdrawals in phases, starting with Bitcoin and 15 other networks.
Its proof of reserves dated 31 October shows 100.04% Bitcoin and 100.00% USDT backing, down from 100.35% and 103.88% a month earlier. An updated report was still due at the time of writing, so check that page before you deposit.
Binance's prohibited-country list would not load for us. The last version we saw, dated January 2026, did not name Tajikistan, and its P2P filter still tags TJS adverts to the country. The market had 115 adverts accepting Alif, Dushanbe City Bank, Eskhata, the International Bank of Tajikistan and Korti Milli.
Spot trades cost 0.1%, or 0.075% if you pay in BNB. About 520 assets trade on spot, and Bitcoin perpetual futures offer up to 150x. Compare it in our Binance vs Bybit guide, or sign up through Binance.
Pros
- The cheapest 1,000 somoni USDT buy in our snapshot.
- The second-largest somoni P2P market.
- Fees of 0.075% when paid in BNB.
Cons
- A $6.3 billion hack on 29 October 2026.
- Withdrawals reopening in phases.
- Bitcoin reserves backing of 100.04%, the thinnest here.

4. MEXC
- Somoni P2P adverts
- 41
- Best price for 1,000 TJS
- 9.65
- Spot maker / taker
- 0.00% / 0.05%
- Russian site
- Yes
Spot trading costs least on MEXC, which charges makers nothing and takers 0.05%. It works well as a second account for buying smaller coins with USDT.
Tajikistan goes unnamed in its terms, updated on 13 October 2026, and its app availability table ticks the country. Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus are now prohibited, so a Tajik living in any of those three cannot use it.
Somoni buyers should look elsewhere. Of its 41 TJS adverts only 8 sold USDT, and the best 1,000 somoni price was 9.65, a 4.8% premium. You will spend less by buying on Bybit or OKX and sending the USDT across.
MEXC lists about 1,427 spot assets. A commissioned October report puts reserves at 294% for Bitcoin and 122% for USDT. It also offers 500x on Bitcoin perpetual futures, the highest here. Read our MEXC restricted countries guide, or sign up through MEXC.
Pros
- Zero maker and 0.05% taker spot fees.
- About 1,427 spot assets.
- Russian-language website.
Cons
- Only 8 somoni adverts selling USDT.
- Now bars Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus.
- Leverage up to 500x invites heavy losses.

5. KuCoin
- Somoni P2P adverts
- 8
- Best price for 1,000 TJS
- 10.60
- Spot maker / taker
- 0.10% / 0.10%
- Russian site
- Yes
Solid reserves and a broad coin list earn KuCoin its place, although its somoni market barely exists.
KuCoin's terms, updated on 29 October 2026, do not restrict Tajikistan. They do restrict Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and Belarus, so residence in a neighbouring country can lock you out.
Only 8 TJS adverts were live, 2 of them selling USDT. The cheapest that fitted a 1,000 somoni order was 10.60, a 15.1% premium that nobody should pay. Fund KuCoin by sending USDT from another exchange.
Most pairs cost 0.1% for makers and takers alike, across about 818 spot assets. KuCoin's proof of reserves for 31 October shows 112% Bitcoin and 110% USDT backing. A US guilty plea in January 2025 cost it about $297 million.
Traders who want leverage get 125x on Bitcoin. Our KuCoin restricted countries guide covers its earlier history, and you can sign up through KuCoin.
Pros
- Bitcoin reserves of 112% on 31 October.
- About 818 spot assets.
- Russian-language website.
Cons
- A 15.1% premium on small somoni buys.
- Now bars Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and Belarus.
- A 2025 US guilty plea.

6. WhiteBIT
- Somoni P2P adverts
- None
- Best price for 1,000 TJS
- No P2P
- Spot maker / taker
- 0.10% / 0.10%
- Russian site
- Yes
If identity checks worry you, look at WhiteBIT. Its help centre lists the countries it refuses and says documents from all others are accepted, and Tajikistan is not on that list. No other exchange here gave us a statement that clear.
WhiteBIT has no somoni market, so you must arrive with crypto. We found no P2P adverts and no direct TJS deposit.
Fees are 0.1% a side across about 469 assets, and the site comes in Russian. We could not find a current proof of reserves ratio. Russia declared WhiteBIT undesirable in January 2026, so Tajiks working in Russia should stay away.
Its Bitcoin futures run to 100x. See our WhiteBIT restricted countries guide, or visit WhiteBIT.
Pros
- A clear statement on accepted identity documents.
- About 469 spot assets.
- Russian-language website.
Cons
- No somoni P2P market or TJS deposit.
- No current proof of reserves ratio found.
- Declared undesirable in Russia in January 2026.

7. Bitget
- Somoni P2P adverts
- 6
- Best price for 1,000 TJS
- 10.70
- Spot maker / taker
- 0.10% / 0.10%
- Russian site
- Not confirmed
No exchange here lists more coins than Bitget, with about 3,517 spot assets. It lands last because somoni buyers get almost nothing from it and hackers hit it in September.
Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan all appear in its terms of use, updated on 20 October 2026, and the first three were added only that month. Tajikistan does not. Bitget also runs a Tajikistan buying page.
Just 6 TJS adverts were live, and the only one selling USDT asked 10.70, a 16.2% premium. Move USDT in from elsewhere before trading here.
On 24 September 2026 hackers took about $388 million from its hot wallets, and its Protection Fund covered the losses. Its proof of reserves for 21 October shows 113% Bitcoin and 105% USDT backing. Spot costs 0.1% a side, dropping to 0.08% in BGB.
Bitcoin leverage goes to 150x. Read our Bitget restricted countries guide for background, or sign up through Bitget.
Pros
- About 3,517 spot assets, the most here.
- Fees of 0.08% when paid in BGB.
- A Bitcoin reserves ratio of 113%.
Cons
- A 16.2% premium on its one somoni sell advert.
- Hacked for about $388 million in September 2026.
- A Russian-language site we could not confirm.

How We Ranked These Exchanges
Access came first. An exchange had to accept Tajik residents on its current terms, and we then scored somoni funding, local costs, platform strength and language support using our ranking methodology.
With no local licence on offer, we looked at each exchange's restricted-country documents instead and marked down any we could not read.
Somoni data comes from adverts captured at 18:38 UTC on 1 November 2026, or 23:38 in Dushanbe. We priced a 1,000 somoni order, about $109, against the official rate. Adverts whose limits excluded that order were ignored, so Bybit's headline 9.30 becomes 9.32.
Platform strength draws on our exchange rankings, which score liquidity, features, fees and regulation. On 27 October they put Bybit first and Binance second. The 29 October hack came two days later, which is what dropped Binance to third here. Perpetual futures served only as a tiebreaker.

Is Crypto Legal in Tajikistan?
Owning crypto is not banned in Tajikistan, but no law regulates it, and paying with it is not allowed. Foreign exchanges work in a grey area where two state bodies have said different things.
What the National Bank Says
The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) has warned about crypto since 2018. In its August 2025 explainer it called the somoni the sole means of payment in the country and said regulation of virtual assets is under study.
Its latest position we could find came in December 2025. Crypto circulation is unregulated, the NBT told Sputnik, and no crypto exchanges are registered in the country. Licensing such venues falls outside its competence.
What the Digital Agency Says
The Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President takes a different line. Its director, Khurshed Faizullozoda, told reporters on 6 February 2026 that no law bans using or mining crypto. An exchange built by an IT Park resident was running as a pilot, the director added, and people using foreign platforms are acting illegally.
We found no law, decree or NBT rule that makes using a foreign exchange an offence, and no case of anyone prosecuted for trading alone. Tajik court data is thin, so that proves little. Treat the remark as an official view that could harden into policy.
What Banks Can Do
In April 2026 Asia-Plus reported that banks are prohibited from working with crypto, but we could not find the NBT rule behind that. The agency says they can connect to the IT Park platform. One exchanger claims it already runs inside a bank app.
No exchange offers direct somoni deposits, which is why P2P dominates here.
What Could Change
Tajikistan is the one Central Asian state we found with no dedicated crypto law. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan all have crypto rules of their own.
An OSCE assessment in January 2026 met an inter-agency group under the NBT on virtual asset risks, and it said the talks would inform future changes to the law. We found no draft bill as of 2 November 2026. Tajikistan is on neither FATF list.

Bitcom and Other Local Somoni Exchangers
Bitcom sells stablecoins for somoni inside Tajikistan, but it is a fixed-price exchanger with IT Park status and cannot replace an exchange.
Bitcom launched on 1 May 2026 and calls itself the first legal crypto exchanger in the country. Its operator, LLC Service and Technology, is entry number one in the IT Park register. That proves park residency only. Bitcom's site claims an official licence but gives no number, and the NBT says such licensing sits outside its competence.
USDT, USDC and PYUSD are on offer, in Russian, Tajik or English. Bitcom says it runs inside Dushanbe City Bank's DC Next app, though we could not confirm that with the bank. Standard limits are 50,000 somoni a day and 500,000 a month after identity checks.
Bitcom's calculator turned 1,000 somoni into 104.72 USDT on 2 November, after a 9.37 rate and a 2 USDT network fee. On Bybit P2P the same money bought 107.30 USDT. Bitcom's effective price of 9.55 sits 3.7% over the official rate.
Innotech, the second entry in the register, offers over-the-counter USDT by bank transfer and contract. It quoted 9.65 on 2 November and suits larger buyers.
Neither venue lists Bitcoin or runs an order book. Both work best as a way in, after which you move USDT to a wallet or exchange.

Exchanges Tajiks Should Skip
Several well-known names refuse Tajikistan, carry sanctions risk or offer a somoni buyer nothing.
- Crypto.com: the app's restricted list, dated 12 May 2026, names Tajikistan alongside Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Afghanistan.
- HTX: it serves Tajikistan and had 40 somoni adverts, but the UK sanctioned Huobi Global in May 2026 and the EU banned transactions with it from 23 August. Those rules do not bind Tajik residents, yet funds that touched HTX can be flagged elsewhere.
- Garantex and Grinex: the US sanctioned both, Garantex was seized in March 2025 and Grinex has halted trading.
- Rapira, ABCEX, Bitpapa and EXMO: all four sit on the same May 2026 UK sanctions list. Check any exchanger's name before sending money.
- Kraken, Gate and Coinbase: we found no somoni market on any of them. Kraken and Gate do not list Tajikistan as restricted, and we could not confirm Coinbase's availability.
- Telegram USDT dealers: none offers exchange escrow, and sending money to a stranger's card can land you in legal trouble.
If You Live in Russia or Kazakhstan
Exchange restrictions usually follow where you live, so a Tajik passport will not help a migrant worker based in Russia. MEXC, KuCoin, Bitget, Gate, HTX and Kraken all bar Russia, and Bitget, MEXC and KuCoin now bar Kazakhstan too. Bybit, OKX, KuCoin and Gate bar Uzbekistan.
Remittances were worth about 46% of GDP in 2025 on World Bank figures, so many families feel these rules. Russia's own crypto regime is covered in our Russia exchange guide, and Kazakhstan's in our Kazakhstan guide.
Bank rails are tightening as well. Humo blocked Russian clients' cards from 1 October 2026 unless they had completed biometric identification in Tajikistan.

How to Buy USDT With Somoni
Most Tajiks buy crypto by paying for USDT on an exchange's P2P market from a local bank app, then trading that USDT for Bitcoin or other coins. Our P2P exchange guide explains how escrow works.
- Open an account on Bybit or OKX and verify your identity with your international passport.
- Choose the TJS market and pick an advert whose limits fit your order. The lowest prices often come with high minimums.
- Pay from an account in your own name, then wait for the seller to release USDT from escrow.
- Swap USDT for Bitcoin or another coin with a limit order at 0.1% or less.
- Move long-term holdings to a wallet you control.
A 1,000 somoni order bought 107.53 USDT on Binance, 107.30 on Bybit and 106.72 on OKX, against 108.59 at the official rate. On MEXC it bought 103.63, and on KuCoin just 94.34.
Your exchange matters more than your bank. Alif appeared on 341 of the 570 adverts with named payment methods, followed by Dushanbe City Bank on 304, Eskhata on 181, the International Bank of Tajikistan on 109, Korti Milli on 107 and Spitamen on 98.
Selling reverses the process, and realistic bids sat near 9.29. Bybit showed a 10.00 bid and HTX 9.99, far above the market. Offers that generous can signal stolen money, so ignore them.
Dushanbe City Bank and Spitamen were both under EU sanctions from November 2025 until April 2026. No major Tajik bank appears on the current US or UK lists we checked, but a repeat could disrupt transfers overnight.

Crypto Mining and Tax Rules
Mining with stolen electricity is now a crime in Tajikistan, while ordinary crypto gains have no dedicated tax rule.
Mining Penalties
Law No. 2206 of 17 December 2025 added Article 253-2 to the Criminal Code, covering the illegal use of electricity to produce virtual assets. The basic offence carries a fine of 200 to 500 calculation indicators, or about 15,600 to 39,000 somoni at the 2026 value, or up to two years in prison.
The bill set harsher terms for groups, with two to five years at large scale and five to eight years for organised groups at especially large scale. We could not read those parts of the final law.
In the first half of 2025 prosecutors tied about 32 million somoni of damage to mining equipment. Sughd prosecutors alone seized 135 machines from homes. Power shortages explain the urgency. The digital agency says mining remains unregulated and not feasible at present.
Crypto Taxes in Tajikistan
Tajikistan has no crypto-specific tax rule that we could find, in the Tax Code or from the Tax Committee. The code's income tax rates are 12% on a resident's main job, 15% on other income and 20% on non-resident employment income.
If a crypto gain counts as income, the 15% rate looks the likeliest fit. That is our reading, and no official ruling backs it. Keep a record of every P2P trade and ask a local tax adviser before you file.

Risks, Scams and Leverage
Fraud, exchange failure and frozen transfers are the main dangers for Tajik crypto users, and no local protection scheme covers offshore exchanges.
Exchange Failure
Two big exchanges were hacked within five weeks, Bitget for about $388 million in September and Binance for about $6.3 billion in October. Both say users are protected, yet Binance customers lost withdrawals for days. Keep only trading balances on an exchange and hold larger sums in your own wallet.
Scams and Mule Accounts
Fake investment ads have drawn warnings from prosecutors. One Bokhtar resident fell for a fake Gazprom Neft video on YouTube and sent 89,700 somoni, which went on buying crypto. In 2025 police opened 45 cyber-crime cases against 114 people, and a fake 5G upgrade app drained bank accounts.
Never lend your card or wallet. Sputnik reported in October 2026 that handing a card or account to someone else now draws a fine of up to about 6,630 somoni. Tajikistan's labour office in Russia has also warned migrants of criminal liability for sending money to unknown cards.
On P2P, check that money has arrived from an account in the buyer's own name before you release USDT. Keep every message in the exchange's chat.
Leverage
Most beginners should skip perpetual futures. Bitcoin leverage runs from 100x on OKX and WhiteBIT to 125x on KuCoin, 150x on Bybit, Binance and Bitget, and 500x on MEXC. At 100x a 1% move against you wipes out your margin.
Funding payments also fall due every few hours. Our guides to perps versus spot trading and funding rates explain the costs, and the maker vs taker guide shows how to cut spot fees.

Bottom Line
Bybit is the best crypto exchange in Tajikistan, with a somoni P2P market nearly three times the size of its nearest rival and the top score in our global rankings. OKX is the best alternative for reserves and bank coverage.
Binance sold the cheapest USDT in our snapshot, but wait until its withdrawals and reserves report are fully back. MEXC has the lowest spot fees, KuCoin and Bitget suit coin hunters funding with USDT, and WhiteBIT offers the clearest identity rules. Bitcom gives you a local way in at a higher cost.
Tajikistan's rules could change quickly. Keep your records, pay only from accounts in your own name and watch for any new law from the National Bank.
